Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
I brought this up on another forum but thought it might cause some more interest over here.
SIDESHOW has recently come to more attention after getting their Star Wars license. Now fans are clamoring for characters like Stormtroopers,Boba Fett, Darth Vader, etc.
I personally do not own any Sideshow figures but my younger brother does own quite a few (all SW) and I've seen and handled them.I'm much more of a Hot Toys/Medicom fan myself.
However,I did look at the SIDESHOW website and noticed that a vast majority of the 12-inch figures they make are comprised of CLOTH only.I thought about this and even had a little debate with my brother about it.
I think SIDESHOW stays away from making armored figures (ex. Hot Toys Colonial Marines/Predators,Medicom Stormtrooper, etc.) for various reasons AND because of this, they might NEVER make some fan-favorites (ex. Boba Fett,Medieval Kurgan).
-It'll raise the production costs for a figure, which in tune would raise the customer cost for a figure.
-Armored figures from Sideshow could be around the $100 price range.
-Sideshow wants to stay around $50-$70 price range and shy away from $100 as much as possible.
-Perhaps Sideshow has not gone around with the proper tests for "armor" on their figure style bodies?
Any other opinions out there?Has anyone also noticed that SIDESHOW's figures are mostly cloth-only?

Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
I'm not sure if they can do it proper... but I can't be sure, They haven't done a armor character yet... I think they're trying to weasel out and make as much CLOTHED figures as possible...
I mentioned this before, I'm pretty sure the armored characters will cost 100+.... especially for a vader.

I think they will make them, eventually.
They need to upgrade those bodies first!
No way they can get away with not making Vader, at the very least.
I do agree that they will clock in around $100 for the armored figures.
I`m thinking mid/late next year at the earliest. Hope they take some cues from the Medi figs.

They'll make 'em someday. There's no way anyone could spend all that $$$ on a license and then pass up on the most popular characters.
As far as the armored figures go - I'll agree that the majority of their figures are clothed, but there have been a few exceptions. They did armor on the Evil Ash figure, and there have been a few premium format figures with armor. We got Vader, and Fett's on the way - so we know they're capable of it.
I hoestly don't know what the holdup is though.. The next announcement in the militaries line better be an Imperial Trooper of some sort!

Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
All I know is if they took on this license and were unable to make any armoured figures of Vader, Fett, Troopers etc down the road they'd have an entire army of pissed off fans after their blood and their reputation in the business wouldn't be worth crap.
I'm not saying that's the case, just what I think the reaction would be if it was the case.
Either way by now IMO they've had the license almost a year which is plenty of time to figure out how to make a Vader or Stormie cost effective. To be honest it's kind what's turned me away from their 1/6 line.
SSC do something or get off the pot!

I'm not from RS, my lil bro posted on that site and actually introduced me to MediWorld here. He goes by "Night Kreeper" here.
I just browse SSF but haven't joined it.
