Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
Crap, I posted, but the maintenance started.
Sideshow said [in the chat] that new bodies (one or more?) are coming '07.

Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
Might be in preparation for armoured figures then.
I'm sure Star Wars and LOTR licenses are the driving force behind Sideshow improving the quality of their products all the time.
Good news for collectors =D

Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
quote: Obi Wan if you've seen it, looks much better in person than it does in the production pics on Sideshow's site IMO. The hair and beard don't seem nearly as dark and he's an excellent likeness. I particularly like the eyes on the character and think they've got the overall likeness captured very well.
Yeah I got Obi Wan the same time as I got Han and Mace. Very good likeness indeed. I have to say I liked all three of those figures a lot. Han probably is the weakest sculpt but the characters certainly there and, historicly, Harrison Ford likeness has always been difficult to capture. I dont honestly think theres a Han Solo figure or statue out that looks 100% like him.
Obi Wan is fantastic though. At the moment i have him posed in his robe, hood up, hand stroking his beard like how you see him in his last scene in ROTS. Not the most dramatic pose you might think, but it looks remarkably good. and strangely seems to bridge the gap between the Ewan McGregor OBi and Alec Guiness old Ben.
Ive got the Qui Gon exclusive coming next week. Not expecting much from that figure but we'll see.

We're in full agreement about the Harrison Ford likeness being difficult to capture, even GG couldn't manage it with their mini bust and they're usually spot on when it comes to likeness.

Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
Nice pics Reefer Shark,I actually really like the Endor gear Leaping Luke!
Yet still I can see that "stiffness" and lack of a natural look in some of the poses. Aragorn looks very awkward as does Qui-Gon Jinn. The stiff boots don't help much as they inhibit the poseability of the figure. I see the Medicom Luke in your signature and his pose is much more "natural looking" and flowing than Aragorn's or Jinn's.
I dunno,I just guess it's a personal thing and I hope that Sideshow's new body is a vast improvement.

Re: Why you may not get ARMORED Figures from SIDESHOW
Nothing in any of the their 1/6 SW line so far suggests to me that they are capable of producing any armored figure to a similar or better standard to the Medicom armored figures or the older Marmit ones either. If there is not a vast improvement in quality from Sideshow in all areas the best you can expect is a Darth Vader Bobble Head with monkey arms and approx 4000 Clone Trooper variants with one leg shorter than the other

And the cheerleaders will still say they're the most fantastic series of SW collectibles ever made
