All Star Superman Thread

Hey! Since it's safe to say that there are several Superman fans here I guess a thread that's based on the Eisner Award winning comic couldn't go wrong.

All Star Superman #6 came out last week and as always I dug it. I must say that I'm glad I read DC One Million all those years ago or else the future Supermen wouldn't have made any sense to me. Dare I say that his Superman is becoming more and more the definitive one? I know some out there don't like the Silver Age vibe the book has but hey, to each his own. At least there are several Superman books to choose from (with Morrison, Cooke, Busiek, Donner & Johns writing Superman I can say with all confidence that he's in great hands).

So what do you guys think of the series and latest issue?

Guess what? It's now delayed two more months. That's 11 months between releases.

Re: All Star Superman Thread

Just before I had a year away from comic books I ended up buying All Star Batman And Robin issue 1.

That must've been eighteen months ago and it still hasn't reached issue 8, by the sounds of things All Star Superman is going the same way.

DC needs to sort this out if they expect the line to succeed, especially in the early days of the line, regular releases build up a fanbase.

I'm sorry Gatack I've not actually read the All Star Superman but I'll more than likely pick up the trade when it comes out.

I like the look of it and the hark back to the silver age is cool IMO, but DC still have to sort their release schedule out.

It's "Ultimates" bad emoticon

Well the volume one All Star Superman trade is coming out fairly soon.

Probably when issue seven comes out in March.

I'm not a big DC fan though I love Supes,Bats, and Green Lantern.

All-Star Superman is geniunely a FUN book to read. Frank Quitely's art is superb and Morrison's writing is excellent, you can really see how this duo has meshed so well!

The book is so good that it makes me almost forget the delay and really weird take on Batman from All-Star Batman (Bats has never appeared to me as the one who curses at people to intimidate them).

So is there any hope for All-Star Wonder Woman?

Hope? As in it for to be good or as in when it'll come out on time. Adam Hughes is writing and drawing All Star Wonder Woman and while he's great at drawing women (he can draw different body types and not just clone one body style after another) I don't know how good he is keeping a schedule.

All Star Superman has been great so far. Morrison and Quietly are on it for 12 issues then who knows. Morrison has said he wants to do more though.

All Star Batman- All Jim Lee, he took on that and Wildcats these delays are his fault he needs to step down from one of these projects or DC needs to get him off of All Star Batman and Robin since Wild Cats is his thing.

All Star Wonderwoman- as with most of these books it will most likley be Bi-Monthly though Adam Huges wants to get a few done before they start releasing them.

All Star Batgirl-Geoff Johsn and J.G Jones were a long way off but I say bi-monthly as well.

I still think that's an odd choice for an All Star book.

I'd love to see an All Star Hal... er, I mean All Star Green Lantern. I'd love to see a Darwyn Cook ASGL book.

It is and it isnt. Barbara hasnt been Batgril for many years now and by all accounts it'd a good character to revist. But I think that an All Star JLA or JSA would be better choice.

Hal already has the standard GL book and there are 2 other GL books on the market (Ion and GL Corps.) There really isnt a need for another GL Book right now.

I think the biggest flaw in the All Star line is its lack of direction and the fact that these all start teams are generally slow. None of the all star books are within the same continuity as the others.
