New Dr Who 12" series 2 figures at Argos now

Just picked up the Clockwork Man, they also had the Ood and they're getting an exclusive Doctor in a spacesuit (not available yet though), not a huge fan of the series but it looked pretty cool so I thought why not? :wtf?

Yeah the Clockwork men were from episode four of last series called The Girl In The Fireplace, one of the best shows of last series.

Not as good as the Ood from Impossible Planet and Satan Pit though, I will likely get both but the Ood is a must for me emoticon

Picked up the Doctor in space suit at the weekend. Argos have a promotion at the moment so he was £14.99. Great figure for that price. the detailing is pretty cool for something that is aimed primarily at the kids/play market. Hasbro could learn a thing or two, mind you so could SST (armoured Cyberman any one?)

Must've been the weekend for Dr Who action figure purchases, I bought two of the box sets from Sainsburys in the sale.

The box set contain three action figures each, Rose, The Doctor (with coat) and Cassandra and Rose, The Doctor (in suit) and Slitheen.

They cost £7.99 each which isn't bad for 3 5 inch figures, there's also two other box sets out that weren't in the sale.

One is the Doomsday box set which contains the Doctor (with coat) Black Dalek and a Cyberman with gun accessory.

Another is the Genesis ark box set which has four Daleks, one the black one and also has a plastic Genesis arc included.

Yeah comes to something when even a company that makes £17.99 action figures can sculpt decent Cyberman armour and SSC can't :roflrofl.

Still haven't managed to get my hands on any of the new releases, but Forbidden Planet only got Clockwork Man last week so I assume it's been held back.

Bought loads of 2007 series 1 figures from Argos a few weeks ago, still haven't seen them in Toys R Us though.

Let me know if you get the Ood, might have to pick one up. i know at this pricepoint it seems churlish to complain but i hope they improve the arm/elbow articulation.

I take your point about Sideshows seeming inability to make armoured figures. But I have the 1/6 scale Cyberman and I dont really rate it. I bought mine from amazon for £6.99 and to be honest i feel even that was too much for the figure. It looks alright in the box, but its not very posable (although obviously the actual screen costumes didnt really allow for a great ranbge of movement emoticon ) and the head is kind of small. Also the undersuit is kind of cheap looking.

'Course all this is just my opinion. I guess I was just dissapointed with the fiugure is all. Im very glad I didnt buy it from toys r us back when it first came out for £20. Id have been a lot more dissapointed then emoticon

Im hoping the 12" 'Revenge of the cybermen' figure will be a lot better when its finally released, but Im not holding my breath. That thing was first shown over a year ago and isnt supposed to get released until October this year i think. god knows whats taking so long. I just cant imagine how it'd take over 2 years to get a figure theyve already made onto the shelves.

Unless of course the BBC plans on releasing 'revenge' on DVD late this year and theyre holding back the release of teh figure till then. but thats pure speculation on my part. I just hope the body the figure is on is a lot more poseable than the new series cybes.

On a seperate note. Did anyone pick up the Doctor Who 'New beginnings' box set thats just been released? An excellent set of DVDs The stories arent quite classics but one of them is Tom Bakers swansong and the documentaries and extras are well worth the price of admission, Quite a bit of Tom being his usual bonkers self.

I know what you mean about the articulation CM, with just a little more work Character Options could have had a classic on their hands. But I still feel that at the RRP of about £17 (and bareing in mind if you shop around you can get em a lot cheaper)that these float around at you're getting a pretty good deal, and if you're a customiser then at least 80% of your work is done.
I'm with you on wanting Product Enterprises to get their Tom Baker and 70's Cyberman out though, as if they live up to the proto pics they will be great. emoticon

Yeah I was looking in the forbidden planer catalog this morning and have to admit the clockwork droid looks pretty groovy.

Its a shame really that we'll possibly never get really great quality 'classic series' 1/6 scale Who figures. Id certainly be up for buying a medicom 'Invasion' style Cyberman. - that would be fantastic. At the moment theyre the only people that could pull it off well.
I suppose theres not much of a market for sixth scale doctor who figures. I kind of wish someone like sideshow would pick up the licence to make 12" versions of just the Doctors. theyd make a decent enough stab at it. and the bodies would work pretty well for them. You dont need action packed poses with the doctors.

Well PE have some decent stuff, here:-

But, for some reason the new 12' stuff has been taken down, it says due to site redevelopment...hope everythings OK, they're a cool company, hate to see them in trouble.
