I'd get the regular version. I don't really like battle damage effects. thats just me though. the regular is more iconic to me.

Im wit INH, I have the straight up version. I only ever consider getting damaged verions if I have the normal as well. But because of scale and price I knew I'd only get one, so I went for undamaged. Tis a sweet piece of plastic.

Thanks guys! i think i'll get the normal version. only problem is the only one that was available on eBay for a good price ($189) is now gone. i'll have to keep an eye out for it.

otherwise, as awesome as ed is, i will have to give the battle damaged version a miss too - watched the film again yesterday - and at no point does the ed-209 have all this damage (i.e. arm blown off AND bullet holes). so for screen accuracy too, the normal version is the one.

BTW, jeff, you're mwctoys review of ed was utterly awesome and is what finally pushed me over the edge in deciding to try and get one for a second time. ta!

Well I'm not the biggest fan of the film, but as a figure ED is one of the coolest out there. When you do snag one 8S for the right price I think you'll be happy.
Glad the review did it's job. I think HT oughta send me free stuff....who am I kidding!
That said if there are any HT spies out there, any samples will always be most graciously received.

well jeff, i think the quality of your reviews is probably responsible for a lot of people buying HT's stuff. i know that when i'm on the fence, i always check reviews and you seem to be the man when it comes to Hot Toys stuff. it was the same for Hicks.

so HT should definitely send you stuff to review. in fact if it's okay with you, i would like to send them an email telling them so - obviously i won't tell them i know you, but will point them to the reviews you've done. i'm sure they'd consider it.

at one point i was certain that michael crawford was getting all his toys free because he is a well known reviewer. i was so jealous i thought about doing a talented mr. ripley on him. i know he gets some stuff but most of it he has to buy i guess.

thanks for you help guys. no need to worry about the mcfarlane one now emoticon

best of luck! i hope it works out. You will be pleased. First reaction will be realizing how freaking big it is.

Be careful when snapping him together that the parts are facing the correct directions, especially the legs. Its a little scary taking him apart. I heard horror stories of people saying that the joint snapped when they tried to pop it out. I successfully disassembled mine to put it back in the box, but I treated the process like heart surgery.

thanks for the advice, dude. i'll bear that in mind. that's one thing i hate about these model kits - i'm not a very careful person and i get so nervous that it's almost certain that something bas will happen. did you have to use a hair dryer to pop the joints in?

Thanks 8S those are very kind words, but I do the reviews cos I enjoy it (when I get the time).
I don't think you'll need a hair dryer as mine (and obviously I can only talk from my experience) popped together really well, didn't need to apply much pressure. And like MM I got mine apart pretty easy just by taking my time and being firm but gentle. But I soon put it straight back together and he's been out on display ever since.
I think Michael gets quite a few samples sent to him but he is a bonafide collector like you and me who pays for most of his stuff. I've been lucky enough to get a few deals from Forbidden Planet, Product Enterprise and a few trusted eBay traders but at the end of the day you have to review things fairly or people will see straight through you. And I can't remember the last time I got a figure that I really thought stinked (so no, I didn't get SST Bespin Han, but I'm not bashing SST as I loved Jedi Luke and ROTS Ben is fantastic!).

well, guys. i received him this morning. what a monster!!! without even putting him together i can tell he will be very very impressive. the only thing that annoyed me a bit was the 2 orange stickers on the top of ed. one of mine was stuck on wonky! i know it's a small thing but on such an amazing figure it mars the perfection a tiny bit. other than that superb!

i still can't wait to see what mcfarlane do end up releasing. even if it's 1/12 i think it will be pretty impressive.
