Oh boy, I need help... scuff marks on Midori's face!

I took off my gray Protect Gear Midori's gas mask and balaclava off & to my great surprise, there were these scuff marks (no other way to describe it) on her cheeks and lips.

Image

At first I wasn't worried, I took a pencil eraser and tried to rub them off. Didn't work. Then I decided to try a more drastic solution, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I rubbed lightly on her cheeks first but it didn't come off so then I progressively used more and more pressure until I realized that I had rubbed off a bit of her lipstick. The stains/scuffs are still there!

So my questions to all of my esteemed colleagues out here:
1. How did this happen? I believe that there must be dye in the cloth black balaclava that was rubbed onto her face as it is the contact point. The gas mask never touches her skin, but I do push down on it to get it to the right position.

2. How to stop it from happening again?? Should I wash the balaclava?

3. How do I fix the marks??

4. If I can't fix it, I suppose I will have to pay a ripoff price ($22 USD + $21 shipping off eBay) for an extra head from HK. The seller has 2 of them for sale, does that mean he took apart two Midoris or can you typically buy spare heads for these figures?

5. Now I'm worried about my Chuichi Protect Gear figure... I still haven't opened him up yet, but I'd hate to find ink or paint scuffed onto his face a month or so later on!

Thanks for any help you might offer.

Trying not to panic,

Kaido

aww man that sucks. I have no idea how to get that off. I suppose you could try more drastic measures like chemicals or bleach. But you could only really do that comfortably once you know you have a spare head.

I havent taken the helmet or mask off of mine since I got her. I should probably check! But I left that plastic wrap around her head that she came with. Do you still have that? Maybe use that from now on?

I guess the easy solution is to just display her with her helmet from now on. But if it bugs you too much, get another head. Thats what I would do.

Yeah I had the plastic wrap around her face, but it covered over only 70% of her face. Now I'm thinking maybe it was the inside of the mask rubbing against her face.

I'm going to try Gundam Erase Marker first, but first I gotta buy one.

Sigh, I may need to buy a spare head in the end.

So, I think I figured out what caused the marks. For those who own the figure, you know the webbing & strap harness that's in the helmet? It's held into the helmet by a flimsy gooey rubbery glue. Well, the glue and the gray paint of the helmet under went some sort of chemical reaction making this oily gooey gray residue. Some of it must have gotten onto my fingers and my fingers touches her face as I slip the balaclava over her head... so weeks later the paint cures on her face and is permanent now.

Goo Begone doesn't work. Dish wash detergent doesn't work. Toothpaste doesn't work. Tomorrow I'm bringing her to work; I'll try WD 40 (what have I got to lose now anyway?) and my coworker has some sort of oil cleaning solution he uses on his RC car motors which he'll bring.

Another coworker of mine paints miniatures so he's offered to fix the lips for me.

However, if the stains don't come off, I'll be in the market for the new head... or else I could sell my figure and use the money I get for it to buy a new Gray Midori.

I would try nail polish remover.. it has acetone in it.. I used it on my Takara Bruce wayne head.. didn't damage it.. but I dunno about midori.. a repaint perhaps?

I used testors paint thinner (very small ammount) on a paper towl to remove simalr marks from my SS Buffy figure when I swaped her body to a smaller one.

You could also just buy some flesh tone paint and just touch up the areas.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the nail polish remover trick tonite. Actually, it looks like the head won't be that expensive.

If I'm patient a Midori head should go up on sale. Though some sellers are asking $20+, actual auctions have gone for as low as $10. I'm contemplating whether I should buy a Midori head at all, or go for another Asian gal's head at this point as I already have another untainted Midori.

Thanks again guys, but looks like it's time to go for a new head altogether. Tonite, I tried nail polish remover, baking soda + water, & even gasoline. Doesn't work at all, but now the head smells like a mixture of the three things.

I'll keep the head around as a 'battle worn' face.
