Re: Hasbro SW 30th Anniversary Figures
I started picking up some of these little guys last week. They are really cool and the articulation on them is above average, especially the troopers.
I was at my local Toys R Us when I spotted the "Battle Packs", each containing five figures. While I was glancing at a specific Clone Trooper Battle pack I noticed that the included troopers had significantly LESS articulation than the regular troopers sold individually. What's up with that? The battle pack troopers lacked the chest/abdominal joint and ball jointed shoulders.

Gotta agree with you there, before this year and the 30th Anniversary collection I hadn't picked up any Hasbro figures for years and I noticed the improvements in articulation almost immediately, they've certainly upped the quality.
The Battle Packs make pretty nice displays and I think they've been geared towards collectors who like to keep things Mint In Box as well. I've never bought any though so I can't account for why they've not gone the extra mile articulation wise with them too.

Re: Hasbro SW 30th Anniversary Figures
I myself have never touched the 3-4" SW line until now. In the past I passed on them because of the poor articulation (even by the standards just a few years ago), but like you I noticed the improvements immediately. But it took me some time to warm up to these little figures, mainly because I knew I couldn't afford to splurge on a new line of toys.
...Now I find myself out $200 and a and dozens and dozens of the little bastards - all in a week's time.
I have a question, where can I get those little round base/display stands that Reefershark used in his photos? Were they included in previous lines? I found the lack of them in the 30th anniversary puzzling and disappointing. I'd rather have bases than the aluminum coins.

Re: Hasbro SW 30th Anniversary Figures
I don't think the little round stands ever came packed in with the 3 3/4 inch figures, I remember seeing them for sale online but I can't remember where.
Your best bet might be Ebay, failing that I'm sure once Reefer sees your post he'll let you know where he got them from.
Last years Saga collection figures came with neat little grey stands that had the name of the character on the front and the movie they appeared in on the base.
