I'm waiting to watch Ponyo with my 5 year old. He loves Miyazaki. It's [sign in to see URL] his favorites are LAPUTA and NAUSSICA. He likes the others but these 2 stand out for him.

Make sure you get that Ponyo coupon from the website, McHaley! I think it's only good for another two days, and works for both USA and Canada.

I've got all the Miyazakis on DVD too. My 5 year old's favorite is Castle of Cagliostro and he loves Laputa and Totoro as well. Some of them like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are a bit too much for them at the moment. I also got the other ones by Studio Ghibli, Pom Poko, My Neighbours the Yamadas, The Cat Returns (recommended), Whisper of the Heart, etc.

I thought Ponyo was ok only, animation is great but the story is just not as engaging as previous Miyazaki films.

Some of my fav Miyazaki films include Howl's Moving Castle & Spirited Away.

I'm currently resting from an eye infection caused by my contact lenses and I've been watching some crappy movies.

Just finished watching Twilight-New Moon & Push. The Twilight series are really the worst vampire movies out there, don't ever watch it, it's crappy action sequences aren't even enough to keep you awake.

Push is slightly better, a film about ppl with special powers, pursued by the Government. A bit like heroes, but the ending was kinda disappointing.

I agree w/ you totally about Ponyo, JuN. I hope your eye feels better soon, maybe you should rest it up instead of watching so many movies, lolz.

I watched 'Where the Wild Things Are,' it's definitely a Spike Jonze film, not really a kid's movie, it involves a lot of thinking & discussion afterwards.

[sign in to see URL] eyes are fine, they dont hurt or [sign in to see URL]'s just really red-blood shot eyes, like how a vampire looks after he had his fill of blood.

I'm still waiting for Where the wild things are to screen at my local [sign in to see URL] is really slow when it comes to certain shows. I don't even recall them screening Coraline and Dvds of it have started to sell already....

We are a weird country when it comes to movies.

Coraline was so-so. The animation was great, but it was still missing something. It wasn't better than The Nightmare before Christmas, imho.

Hey, but at least you're getting Goemon and Evangelion in the theatres though!

I see, maybe it has to do with Neil Gaiman as a story writer. I think most of his books dont really translate that well to film.

I'm glad we do get some Japanese shows and censorship are much better these days allowing more films to be shown.

Zombie movies anyone?

Zombieland - The intro shows great promise that this will be a fun zombie movie. Well it certainly is fun but I thought there just weren't enough Zombie action.

Dead Snow - A German Zombie movie, very bloody, with humor injected. Not for those with weak stomach though, you will literally feel the pain the characters are feeling in the show.

Anyway, I recommend both if your a Zombie fan, quite a refreshing take on the zomebie genre as compared to the usual "Dead" series.

Zombieland is already out on DVD/Bluray here. I don't know about the Nazi zombie movie, but I've heard of it! Horror is my least liked genre and I have no plans to buy either movie. Wouldn't mind watching Zombieland some day though. That film got good reviews around here parts.
