Re: Nobody seeing any movies lately?

Just watched Zombieland and was extremely amused by it.
Also watched PONYO with my son. We both enjoyed it. I think it would be hard for Miyazaki to make a bad movie. But [sign in to see URL] wasn't nearly as extraordinary as Totoro, Mononoke or Spirited Away.

Iron Man 2

I enjoyed the movie, but there are a few things that really bugs me.

Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes
Seriously, he is lacking chemistry with RDJ. When it was Terence Howard, you really get a feeling that he is best friends with RDJ, they way they spoke and have little [sign in to see URL] just spoke like a robot, he has no emotions, no [sign in to see URL]'s just not very suited to take over the character that was established in the first movie.

Screen time for all the different [sign in to see URL]'s just say they are not enough.

War Machine suit is [sign in to see URL] doesn't really live up to its name, I think he got owned pretty bad.

Spoilers on the final battle - highlight to read
[spoiler] Another anti-climatic final battle [sign in to see URL] thought the first movie final battle was lame enough but IM 2 proves you can do worst than that. It's like Tony Stark went thru all that trouble to improve his arc reactor and increase his power output and he cant even put it to good use in the final battle. Instead he has to do a little, "Hey War Machine, lets just repulsive blast each other, the impact should stop Whiplash"[spoiler end]

What they did good, the story, character development (especially for Tony Stark). Special Effects are decent, great performance by most of the actors/actresses.

Best addition to the movie: Scarlett Johansssn! Nuff Said!

I've seen the following in the last couple of weeks,

The A-Team = 8/10
( I never expected to like this as most remakes tend to suck but this one was very true to the spirit of the original and with the possible exception of the dude playing Face all the rest of the team were damn good especially Murdock. )

Predators = 8/10
( Best one since the original which was referenced pretty nicely. A sequel is planned and I can't wait!. )

Just watched Space Battleship Yamato (Live Action Film) in the Cinema.

You guys have to watch this! Absolutely awesome sci-fi movie based on the Japanese Anime.

I've never watched the original Japanese Anime but this live action film is really good. If I have to compare it to any hollywood sci-fi film, it would be the rebooted Star Trek movie.
Great space battles, Alien warfare and a heart wrenching story makes this 1 of the best film I've watched this year.

Catch it in the theatre if you can, if not buy the DVD, you will not be disappointed.

Is it a live action? I thought it was a CG film.

Anyone watch any of the other summer movies? I'm interested in Hanna and Rango. Anyone watch Battlefront L.A.?

Yep, it's live action starring Takuya Kimura. CGI effects are pretty good and believable.

How long ago has Evangelion [sign in to see URL] come out? Well, I finally watched it this afternoon on blu-ray. Although 'dumbed down' I still don't understand all of it... how did Mari get past NERV security and activate Unit 02 just like that? And what is Rei? Some sort of clone now? emoticon

For Mari, I think you can say that she is an agent of Nerv just not based in Japan, thats why she can get pass security. Or rather, they were all so busy fighting the Angel, that nobody noticed her?

Rei has always been a sort of [sign in to see URL] need to rewatch [sign in to see URL] can't remember much of it. But even in the original, they had like 1 whole tub of Rei replacements, every time she is seriously injured or died.
