Testing out my new lens the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

Pros
Sharp
Cheap
Lightweight
Large Aperture for lots of shallow deapth of field fun

Cons
Focusing sucks
No Image stabilisation
Cheap construction, well it's plastic.

Overall, a fun lens to play with for an amateur not wanting to shield out big bucks.

My old ibook G4 is used as the background cos my room is superbly messy & I'm really lazy to pack them up so that I can have a proper photo taking area.

I'm really thinking about getting the 1.8 too. It's in the right price range for me. Very cute Wicket you got there!

The 50mm F/1.8 II is a great value for money lens, if you can look past it's flaws, it's definitely a great lens to have.

Wicket is a cutie, as long as he doesn't start humping or moonwalking like those ewoks on the Halloween tv show.

Nice score man. the 1.8 is probably THE best bang for you buck you can buy.

Im pretty sure you will enjoy it. I dont have one, but never stop hearing about it. I have the 1.4 and it may be my favorite lens

Re: I want pics of your cameras...

I bought my wife for xmas a Nikon D90. It was a kit, came with 18-105mm lenses. Very nice camera, I am new to photography so I am a little lost about all the specs about it, all I know is that the pictures are vastly superior to my old Canon SD630 point-and-shoot.

Went to New York City on the weekend, and took great pictures with it. Like I said I am a newbie, but I felt that taking pictures with that camera was effortless, and they all came out IMHO fairly good.

I tried to snap a picture of the camera with my old Canon, but the pictures look to shinny, I guess it is because of the flash, I will try again tomorrow, and hope that I can post some pictures of the camera itself.

Some pictures of NYC: (if pics are too big, just let me know so I can resize them)

Bought for your wife or yourself? hehe emoticon

Getting a Nikon is a good choice and the kit lens 18-105mm!!!! The focal length is so much more than my canon 18-55mm kit lens....btw, great shots, I 've never been to NYC too.

Do start taking more pics of your collections now!

I really love this camera even though I'm taking pics with the auto setting (I still haven't fiddled with all the options), the pictures come out much better looking than any of my older pics.

Bought the camera also because me and the wife are taking a trip to Singapore on march, so we wanted a nice camera to take good pictures (for once in our lives)...

I really need to start taking pics of the collection...

And yes Kaido, that's Jen my wife... she found a way to make an appearance in Mediworld!!! hahaha

Have fun with the various settings of the camera, it's addictive & soon u will find yourself wanting to buy new lenses, like u want to buy new toys.
