For this review, I just find it weird or should I say unfair that he reviewed articulation on a VCD figure which by nature of the toyline, wasnt meant to have any articulation. Also another fact is, Medicom didnt market Wicket as a 1/6 scale figure. Nothing on their website says that, nothing on the packaging says that. Knocking points off the scale issue, seems unfair. I do agree on the other points, like price and accessories could have been improved. nondisclosed_email@example.com (kazukiJuN)Fri, 04 Jul 2008 09:42:29 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281603,from=rss#post281603https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281603,from=rss#post281603I think you just don't look at the overall score (since he factors in things like price & value, etc), but only look at the detailed individual breakdowns to give an idea how good the figure is. He lists pros and cons (he liked Wicket's hood), so I think that helps a lot. I understand where he's coming from, his site covers for a large more "mainstream" population, and hard for him to justify telling everyone to run out and buy a $60 Wicket when the next review is about $7 Wall-E figures. I still enjoy MWC!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaido)Fri, 04 Jul 2008 08:36:54 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281587,from=rss#post281587https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281587,from=rss#post281587quote:kazukiJuN wrote: Read the review, wow...2 stars? When Medicom already advertised it as a Vinyl Collectible Doll......since when did they say that Wicket was going to be an action figure with articulation??? Exactly! The VCD's aren't meant to be as articulated as an RAH and besides Wicket didn't exactly do any Darth Maul style extreme poses to begin with. I like some of Michael's reviews but his bias towards SSC is getting a bit transparent. I'm not saying every Medicom figure he reviews should be praised no matter what but if the price and scale are still a major issue when it's been clear for some time that Medicom aren't going to change these things then why bother reviewing them in the first place?nondisclosed_email@example.com (bcm77)Fri, 04 Jul 2008 04:11:05 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281564,from=rss#post281564https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281564,from=rss#post281564Read the review, wow...2 stars? He pioneered an awesome review format, but I rarely read the site anymore - my tastes have diverged from mainstream toys. I get the hunch that a Hong Kong-based company like Hot Toys gets much love for their Hollywood licenses. Whereas Medicom's choices of licenses are more alien (to the SSF crowd), and on top of that, they compete with Sideshow's 1/6 SW line. It's not hard to see why Medi gets such undeserved criticism.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Yakface)Thu, 03 Jul 2008 11:16:19 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281500,from=rss#post281500https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281500,from=rss#post281500The thing that annoys me is the scale is still treated like a major suprise when it's been apparent for ages that Medicom only make their figures in scale with each other and IMO they should be judged on their own merits instead of constantly being compared to another companies SW line that has way more problems than a slight lack of height. The other possibility that the Freaks don't seem to consider is that Medicom could also be subject to restrictions from Lucasfilm on how they sculpt certain things in the same way that Sideshow are.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bcm77)Thu, 03 Jul 2008 00:39:20 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281484,from=rss#post281484https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281484,from=rss#post281484I just read the review and I was like And those postings about wicket being too small etc....are just another I seriously cannot understand their obsession with scale etc... posting there certainly isnt aas enjoyable as posting over here. nondisclosed_email@example.com (kazukiJuN)Wed, 02 Jul 2008 19:06:08 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281461,from=rss#post281461https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p281461,from=rss#post281461quote:jabbatheridge wrote: It's why I steer clear of Sideshow Freaks these days, or when I do post there I limit my posting to TV threads and Doctor Who figures threads. The excuse? Wicket is apparently "too small" Never mind the fact it's superbly sculpted, the fact that it's a tad smaller than it should be is once again enough to condemn the figure and the fawning idiots who hang on his every word are nodding in agreement like the mindless sheep they undoubtedly are. This obsession the Medi-bashers have with scale is ridiculous and it makes me wonder whether they approach every other aspect of their lives with the same anal mentality.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bcm77)Wed, 02 Jul 2008 09:51:17 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p279644,from=rss#post279644https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p279644,from=rss#post279644Looks like I'll have to hide this one from my niece whenever I get it,she'll probably try switching it for one of her soft toys when I'm out! :roflrofl nondisclosed_email@example.com (bcm77)Wed, 11 Jun 2008 13:15:57 +0000 Re: Any further news on VCD Wicket?https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p279634,from=rss#post279634https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p279634,from=rss#post279634That Wicket VCD looks amazing.
