Anime Festival Asia 2009

Held on 21/22 Nov @ Suntec City Singapore

Just some pics of the Gundam competition and other toy products on display. Didn't take as many pics as compared to last year. This year exhibitors/retailers were significantly lesser than last yr. Exclusive items were also kinda boring...I didn't get a single toy from this event which is a first.

If you ask me, it was not worth the ticket price, unless you are interested in the performances by the various Japanese artistes.

You can find out more about the event
here

Enough talk, on to the pics!

Attended the talk by Danny Choo , if you dont know who he is check out dannychoo.com probably one of most famous otaku blogger in the world.

He wore his stormtrooper armour and did the stormtrooper dance. Pretty cool fellow, gave a talk about how he made his interest in japanese pop culture into a business.

Looks like you're getting a lot of use out of that F1.8 lens, JuN! emoticon

Danny Choo, yeah, I visit his blog once in a while when I'm looking around for Figma news.

Btw, those small SIC figures, Kiwami figures I think they're called, I ordered them all. I should be getting Zanki & Hibiki next week from HLJ.

haha yeah, it's a much faster lens as compared to the kit lens, the large aperture makes it easier to take pictures in low light as well.

Wow, u even ordered those Kiwami figures? I didn't get them cos I already got the normal SIC versions.

I decided to pass on SIC, b/c too expensive and too many at this point. These Kiwami figures are about $15 shipped, so they seem to be a great bargain considering a GI Joe figure is about $12 (with taxes). Also, the line just started this year, so only a few to collect at this point. I've heard nothing except good things about the smaller line.

Yep, so far the Kiwami figures have got good reviews. Price factor is a plus as compared to the bigger counterparts.

I skipped them as I didn't want too many different interpretations of the same characters.

Wish I could've gone for this, if only for a chance to hang out with my other cosplaying friends and to make use of my Emperor Kiva costume.

Aside from that, yeah I agree it doesn't look too worthwhile for anyone who isn't there for cosplaying or performance related stuff.

P.S. I think Danny Choo's an idiot. Just a personal opinion emoticon.
