Do not watch episodes 25, 26. Instead go straight to The End Of Evangelion.nondisclosed_email@example.com (McHaleyArt)Wed, 29 Jun 2011 11:16:31 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p316002,from=rss#post316002https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p316002,from=rss#post316002Yeah, I know what you mean. It was a bit complicated to me... I hope the next two installments will clarify issues. I never even finished watching the original series, though I own them all. I just kept getting drowsy in the later episodes. I never even watched The End of Evangelion (still sealed)!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaido)Tue, 28 Jun 2011 19:48:24 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315993,from=rss#post315993https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315993,from=rss#post315993Watched 2.22 yesterday. Looked spectacular. I like the fact that it expands on how the rest of the world were involved with their EVA projects. Honestly, though....? If I had not watched the original series like, 3 times or more...I don't think I'd have been smart enough to know what the hell was really going on.nondisclosed_email@example.com (McHaleyArt)Tue, 28 Jun 2011 10:19:50 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315533,from=rss#post315533https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315533,from=rss#post315533LOLnondisclosed_email@example.com (McHaleyArt)Fri, 10 Jun 2011 09:31:58 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315524,from=rss#post315524https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315524,from=rss#post315524McHaley, nice to see you! We've missed you, man. I watched 2.22 recently, it was not bad! The action was very tense. As usual, I found myself yelling at Shinji, get your whiney ass back into that Evangelion and pilot the damn thing already!! Okay, I was just thinking that, not literally yelling at the TV. Nice to have it on blu-ray, to rewind and freeze frame the action, because some fight scenes go down fast! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaido)Thu, 09 Jun 2011 21:13:55 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315502,from=rss#post315502https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p315502,from=rss#post315502So...I just now (I live in a cave) discovered that there's a version 1.11 that addressed the lighting and color issues in 1.01. There were some parts in 1.01 that are pretty dark and hard to see. It also has about 2 minutes extra action, so I hear. And although it's explained as a more philosophical end, I think that they just ran out of money and then were able to go back and do the ending they had wanted to do. Just my opinion. nondisclosed_email@example.com (McHaleyArt)Wed, 09 Dec 2009 08:52:11 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303644,from=rss#post303644https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303644,from=rss#post303644quote:Kaido wrote: quote:kazukiJuN wrote: Yeah, I got mine way back...no director's cut for me but you definitely won't be disappointed by 2.0, greatest anime I have watched this year! And that (sort of) answers your question, KazukiJuN: The directors cuts were done after Death & Rebirth and incorperates some of that into the directors cuts that flow more smoothly and lead directly into The End Of Evangelion. It's really cool...but each Platinum version comes with a 12 page book (84 pages in all with all 7 discs) that contain detailed specs and analysis on all the Angels and characters, plus a time line of Nerv's inception before the series starts (the year 2015). The 1st volume even include a Nerv parking sticker for your car...I got a kick out of that. I was hoping that 2.0 would be as you said...so I probably will check it out, once it goes comes to the states.nondisclosed_email@example.com (McHaleyArt)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 21:28:49 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303523,from=rss#post303523https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303523,from=rss#post303523Unfortunately I don't have death and rebirth and I don't think I'll be able to find it or buy it anymore, but I will revisit what I do own. It's more like a summary of the first 6 to 7 episodes. What I like about it are the new animations, everything was much more improved & refined and nothing from the TV series was reused. Shinji is less whiny but I thought that took out a lot of the character development and the characteristics that made Shinji what he is. That said, I like it much better on a second viewing and appreciate why they cut certain stuff out. But don't let 1.0 stop you from watching any of the future installments because 2.0 kicks ass!!! 2.0 rewrites everything from the tv series and I mean everything!!! All of it is for the better, the new animations, battle scenes and characters will blow you away and you will really really look forward to the next two installments. I'm hoping to catch 2.0 one last time b4 they take it down off my local cinema...argh gotta find time to do it. btw, I've never watch the Director cuts version, mind sharing what are the differences in it? Kaido - You should definitely rewatch the whole tv series, follow by the movies Death & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion to complete the whole Evangelion experience. Then once you get the chance, follow it up with 1.0,2.0 and the two remaining 3.0,4.0 which are still in the production process. nondisclosed_email@example.com (kazukiJuN)Wed, 02 Dec 2009 09:27:42 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303504,from=rss#post303504https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303504,from=rss#post303504I am sure everyone here would be excited to see Ultraman or Eva related stuff McHaley style! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Kaido)Tue, 01 Dec 2009 23:10:11 +0000 Re: EVANGELION : 1.01 You Are (Not) Alone.https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303503,from=rss#post303503https://bmedicom.runboard.com/p303503,from=rss#post303503I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do some Eva art. I'd been looking forward to this ever since I heard they were going to do it. I have to say I was disappointed with the final result of this 1st installment. I'm such a fan of the original series...it's phenomenal to say the least. I thought that this new version looked slick overall, but felt there was a lot missing in this streamlined version. It was like watching a summary for me. The weight of the characters and their personalities were lacking because of this. Original supporting characters where no were to be found or had their speaking roles completely removed. A much larger world made smaller. My advice would be to watch the platinum edition of the regular series, making sure to watch the Director's Cut versions of Ep. 21-24 instead of the aired versions (included). Then straight on to "The End Of Evangelion" movie (which replaces episodes 25 and 26). You won't be disappointed.nondisclosed_email@example.com (McHaleyArt)Tue, 01 Dec 2009 18:54:05 +0000
