GI Joe: 1/6th Beachhead
Aaargh, I didn't know this was released or I totally would have preordered.
The SS exclusive unmasked headsculpt is a better extra than usual. Though these are prototype pics, I think they will help let us compare the figure's final release down the road as well as provide reference pics on how to put on some of his gear when he comes out later on.
I was always a fan of Beachhead, but that was mainly b/c his card art was so awesome. The actual figure back in the 80's had a big round lollipop head and a neck that was too skinny, but that's just my opinion.

He really did have one of the best cards. The design of the first Beachhead figure was awesome, but you're right, Kaido - the execution left the slightest bit to be desired. It was still in the top-ten range of coolest G.I. Joe figures ever though. I also liked the G2 Beachhead that was released in the early 90s; you know, the one where he wore a Delta Force helmet and was painted entirely dark green/deep turquoise.
I'm not sure I'm a fan of the Beverly Hillbillies expression the exclusive HS is sporting, but Sideshow did a pretty great job on him otherwise. It would be cool if you could put the beret on the masked HS. MGS, anyone?  'Can't wait for Shock Blast/Shockblast!

I don't like the cartoony Popeye smirk on the head sculpt. I'm not getting Beachhead anyhow. Come on, let's see Destro & Zartan already.

I hate the exclusive head too. They finally release a figure with a 2nd head (why not on Cobra Commander?!?) and the sculpt sucks. Beachhead must have gum cancer by now if he chews that much tobacco.
The good news is I save money since I don't want the exclusive. Go Sideshow!

Not a fan of Gi Joe but i really like Beachead design. Luckily he will easily fit with other modern military characters.

I just preordered Beach Head and i'm on the wait list for the exclusive at Sideshow. I think Sideshow did a good job. So far they've achieved the right balance of vintage Gi Joe and artistic newness with this line. Maybe they pushed it a bit too far with Beach heads exclusive though. Boy is he Ugly. Ya think he's southern ? Well at least they didn't give him a mullet.
