Problem with your Hot Toys figure? Ask Dr.Beast X !

Calling Dr. Beast X! emoticon

I got my Barry Ross figure today but his left shoulder ball joint is quite loose, especially when you invert it inwards.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! emoticon

I presume you meant the internal shoulders. On Ross/Whiplash/T-800... I suppose its a 2 hinge system like any other hard bodied TT. You maybe able to access the screws by peeling back the shoulder holes.... though with the tatoo decals this maybe tricky without damaging it.

Thanks BeastX, you know, you're right, this is not worth the risk and only certain poses with the left arm are affected. Fortunately, seems Barney Ross' character is ambidextrous in the movie though he prefers to shoot his machine gun with his left.

Hope you don't mind, but I am going to sticky this thread so if anyone has any Hot Toys questions related to QC they can ask your opinion here. emoticon

With careful examination, I actually believe that the looseness comes from the peg of the shoulder joint to the bicep, so it is the swivel motion that is loose. Can one just pop the entire arm from the shoulder ball joint? I gave it a good tug, but it's on pretty tight and don't want to risk breaking.

Re: Problem with your Hot Toys figure? Ask Dr.Beast X !

Holy !@#$, so glad for this thread:

I have a serious problem - I sold a Hot Toys Batman to someone on ebay, and there was some dust on it, so I wiped it with a "wet one" and it looked nice and clean when I packed it to send.

The buyer got it and is pretty upset, saying it looks all dull, and he thinks it's because I wiped it with the wet one.

Anyone know how to get the gloss back without damaging it? Can it be rinsed in water? Can you rub something on it?

Do let me know!

Thanks

Though this is an ask Dr. Beast X thread, if you know the answer, feel free to chime in! I'm sure Dr. Beast X won't mind. But please, no malpractice suits... emoticon

"Wet one" would have alcohol? Do you happen to know the ingredients?

Also, the batsuit, originally is it very shiny or glossy? Maybe the dullness is normal?

em' wet ones normally tend to have a small percent of alcohol with purified water, could possibly have stripped of some of the gloss/paint off your batman given long exposure. Though mildly wiping it should not be a problem...

the batman's the darkknight version or batman begins version?

even so, hard plastic parts suffer less under mild exposure to alcohol as opposed to rubber parts do note! So where did you wipe poor ol' bats?

p.s. i've wiped plastics in lab with 70% ethanol before to disinfect it and it was only then did i notice any form of severe blurring or dissolving of the plastics. even so, it's after repeated wipes.

Re: Problem with your Hot Toys figure? Ask Dr.Beast X !

Thanks guys - I suspect the buyer was just had higher standards than me in the end and was more finicky. It was the original suit batman from Dark Knight. I always list flaws of my figures and there were a few scuffs which I didn't notice but he thought it was a big deal, and I've wiped it with a wet one once or twice before in the past (all over, on the suit and plastic parts and cape) and never noticed that it made it dull or anything.

I just wiped it once with a wet one. I looked online at photos of the figure new and I think my figure was always less glossy than that, or had been so for a while just from being out.

He sent me some photos but they were all a bit out of focus and hard to make anything out. He thought the plastic face guard scratched his face in transit!?

He wanted $60 rebate, which is how much I would lose in shipping to and from him so I asked him to return it to me and I refunded him for the figure and his shipping. He had already bought a new one the same day as he got mine in the mail, and wanted to sell him for custom parts. I really didn't like the idea of my great figure being unappreciated like that!

I'll see when I get it back, but I think it's fine.

smell something fishy here....

ori costume not suppose to be [sign in to see URL] you apply those "oil/lotion". Mine is not shiny....

you should insist that he takes a better focus of the item and better next to the one he bought.

just my thought...
