Oooh, I gotta go check out Pendulum, thanks, I'm always looking for new music for my MP3!

Which albums you recommend?

Hey Kaido, to be honest I could not recommend an album. I have a few songs on my MP3 but have some friends who are bigger fans than me. Dead Kennedays however, I can recommend specific albums emoticon

Re: New Three A Retailer - Me!

I checked out Cut Copy, Kaido, and I really like the song, "So Haunted." The chorus is quite pretty.

Pendulum's album, Immersion, is definitely worth scoping out, imho. The normal version has 14 full-length songs and a cool intro piece, so you definitely get a lot of music. Pendulum hits much harder than Cut Copy, but certainly not in the realm of death metal or anything like that. Here's a breakdown of each song on Immersion:

1. Genesis: Neat theatrical, playful intro. Sets you up for a surprise attack atmosphere-wise with track 2.

2. Salt in the Wounds: DnB song on the darker side. Nothing too standout-ish about it. More of a sampler of some of their vibe as a band than anything. Much better live though. It's the weakest song on the album for me.

3. Watercolour: HERE WE GO! Now we're talkin'. Literally. This is the first song with vocals in it. And do they sound good. Rob's voice is perfect for the kind of genre fusing that Pendulum does. You have DnB, alt rock, and retro synth brass all in one with this one. One of their big hits. The music video is fantastic.

4. Set Me On Fire: The most unique song on the album. Rasta vocals, dubstep influence, and a fun twist on a cathedral organ Dracula bit. Very cool stuff.

5. Crush: Turn the volume up. Way up. If you're driving, you're going to start speeding uncontrollably. This song is raw energy. It's catchy, melodic, and absolutely fun. The best part: it doesn't stay that way. The end of the song is emotionally sensitive. Brilliant. This jam should be on radio stations in every country.

To be continued...

Continued! emoticon

6. Under the Waves: Has beautiful segments. Perhaps the most important song for Rob's vocals, since his voice is, by far, the most important instrument for setting the mood on this track. Who would've thought a DnB dance song could be serene. The best way to describe the song is to refer to the album cover art actually.

7. Immunize (feat. Liam Howlett): This track lives and breathes on the dance floor. If Mario had a child with Peach and that child was currently a teenager in revolt, this would be the kid's soundtrack. Makes you want to check the song out, huh?

8. The Island, Pt. I (Dawn): If the song's theatrical title wasn't enough of a clue, Pendulum lets you know right off the bat in the opening measures: this one is going for the gold. Dawn easily has the most mass appeal of any song on Immersion. It is constructed so solidly and sounds so clean that it's like an invitation from a person you've never met before but feel you've known for ages. Pendulum really pulls it off with this track. Congratulations, guys - you've created a champion.

9. The Island, Pt. II (Dusk): The tweaker half of The Island. If you can handle the repetition in the beginning, it pays you with a cool reinterpretation of the main theme of The Island. Unless you're a devotee of this kind of electronica though, it will probably be a pass for most people.

10. Comprachicos: The sinister, industrial song on the album. It's a welcome change up and is appropriate for any lustful mood swings you might be prone to. The chorus is pulsating and charged.

11. The Vulture: When the beat and vocals come in, you know you're in for a good time. Hard hitting and free spirited, this track will make you move. It's like a law of the universe - if you listen to this song, you will dance. Hard.

To be concluded...

Concluding:

Pendulum's stretch to the finish brings out their best music. The next three consecutive tracks are amazing. As in, I was actually amazed when I heard them. The strength and command of sound that this trio demonstrates really is something else.

12. Witchcraft: The best lyrics on the album. Rob absolutely takes center stage on this one. The opening vocals echo long after the song is over. The drums switch up and drive the chorus with passion. The harmony of every element that plays is so pretty and affecting. What's more, the song received a music video that does it justice. Witchcraft is as spellbinding as you could've hoped from the title.

13. Self vs. Self (feat. In Flames): Oh. My. Goodness. This is not only my favorite song from the band, but one of my favorite songs from any band. I don't know what the division of contributions was between Pendulum and In Flames, but their teamwork is outstanding. Even if you don't usually like metal rock, listen to this song the whole way through. I cannot imagine a universe in which you would regret having done so. Self vs. Self is rich, decadent, and elegant in it's musical prowess. And I say that with full knowledge that there's a guy screaming through a lot of it. Yes, the song is that good. There is nothing else like it, and I hope that that alone will inspire you to give it a chance. It will not disappoint. It can't. It doesn't know how to.

14. The Fountain (feat. Steven Wilson): Track 15 is technically the last song on the album (normal version), but for me, there's no following The Fountain (unless you play Self vs. Self again). It has the best chord progression of any song on Immersion. Steven's vocals (lyrics included) are so perfect a match for the instrumentals that it's almost unfair to all the songs that precede The Fountain. This is a humanly emotive, fast-paced track that, for all its energy, exhibits a subtle intimacy that seals the deal and makes this a heartfelt, affectionate triumph. It will make you feel better than you currently do.

15. Encoder: You know how I said Set Me On Fire was the most unique song on the album. I apologize. THIS is the most unique one. It could be found on a Disney film and no one would be surprised. That's how different it is, and that is a fantastic thing. And when the key change occurs, the song takes on a completely different feel. I seriously under appreciate this track. It's wildly dynamic. I'm sure I will convert sooner than later.

So that's Immersion for you, Kaido. emoticon Pendulum's song, "Sounds of Life (feat. Jasmine Yee)," off their album, "Hold Your Colour," is a song I would strongly urge you to listen to. Jasmine's voice is beautiful and the song is unlike anything you'll find on Immersion. I hope this was helpful. Thanks a lot, odinsbeard, for being a good sport about letting us talk about this on your thread. emoticon emoticon emoticon It's always fun learning about our fellow boarders' other interests.

Awesome Femtech... heh, I've been listening to Immersion for the last two days now already... emoticon

And my music tastes range from lighter music like Pet Shop Boys, Cut Copy, to harder stuff like NIN, The Prodigy (I noticed Liam Howlett on one of the Immersion tracks, so instantly downloaded the deluxe version from iTunes). I listen to a lot of stuff. I recently discovered Miike Snow as well, really enjoy that one too. There's also this funky new song called "Home" by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeroes that I really liked but listened to it to death.

Hey guys - Kaido has given me permission to add a Bolt Action Toys thread in the sales section so any updates regarding sales will be there. Im super conscious (paranoid) of being seen as 'selling' amoungst the posts here so anything from me regarding my retail site will stay there. Im a fan first and my store is second.
Oh yeah 10% of for Medi worlders for a month or so. emoticon

Hopefully my updates dont get lost down the bottom of the board so please check it out.
