Re: Custom/Kitbash EMGY Fire Fighter
fantastic weathering! I'm excited to see the end result.
Would you be willing to do a brief 'how-to' with step by step photos on how to paint weathering like that? You do it so well!

Re: Custom/Kitbash EMGY Fire Fighter
Thank you very much for all your encouragement and kind comments. They are the fuel for me to complete this project.
Master Monkey – Firstly, I keep looking at your avatar… very mesmerizing LOL!
OK, I try to describe in words first on how to achieve the weathering. Is not that hard, just need a little believing.
Step 1
Apply the base paint of the desired color. Spray sealant – gloss / semi gloss / flat according to what finishing you desire.
Step 2
Apply wash. eg 1 part brown, ½ part black. And dilute mix with water for acrylic paint.
Dap the wash with tissue or cloth. Mainly to remove the brush strokes.
Step 3
Use a sponge and apply the desired weathering color on it. I uses Flat Black and Red Brown for this project.
Repeat the process if you have 2 or more weathering paint to want to use.
If you look close enough to a 3A product, you will see at least 3 shades of weather – black, burnt sienna & chrome.
Step 4
Further dilute the wash mixture (see step 2) and go over the entire weathered part.
Step 5
Use after paint dried
I will try to take some pictures of the next item I’m gonna paint to substantiate these points.
Meanwhile Cub, the part is actually body armor hahaha!!! Very strange isn’t it?

Re: Custom/Kitbash EMGY Fire Fighter
Some updates of stuffs done over the weekend and the past couple of days.
Torch Light
And hey, I found a new, better looking helmet. It was from Hasbro's GI Joe FireFighter accessory set I found in a local departmental store "Crazy Toy Sale". Definitely better looking - shape wise - as compare to the previous one used.
Here is concept B. Still trying out combinations to get the best effect.
Till the next update!

Re: Custom/Kitbash EMGY Fire Fighter
Thanks again fellas for your kind words.
And Cub3K, your wishes is my command
I cannot really say it is completed cos I still need to :
1. paint the gasmask .
2. weather the helmet flap.
3. make a helmet strap similar to the deplumes type
Now I have a little concern about infringement of IP. I remember reading something about it that there are some rules and guidelines in creating custom related to Ashley Wood's creation. What do you guys think?

Re: Custom/Kitbash EMGY Fire Fighter
Still Awesome Porkins
Man...really wanna see ur past customer figures (must be somewhere right ^^)
I think in regards to IP, as long for personal purpose and not mass produced should be alright, I think??
But I'm not the expert either in IP matters though

Re: Custom/Kitbash EMGY Fire Fighter
I never really does a lot of such customs only when the spur of a moment came with immense sense of inspiration that I can persevere and complete a project. I'm really a person who almost always started out strongly but fizzle away quite quickly haha!
Nevertheless, here are a few worth mentioning ones :
Fliege Jager :
Inspired by Paolo Parante's DUST design, I build this one for participating in a online 1/6 Sci-Fi competition organized by the OSW back in 07 and won 3rd price I think and gets an action figure free
Russian Recce :
Again the prospect of winning some prizes fuel my engine to go out making this one. Won prizes alright but the category is best written back story of the character... I dunno why I won that cos my story kinda sucks. But oh well
Futuristic 3 Kingdom Zhao Yun :
This was a collaboration with 2 of my Hong Kong friends to enter into the competition as a group entry. Didn't win anything this time round but aptly so cos I does this for the sake of doing... inspiration wasn't abound but still, Zhao Yun is my favorite character from the Chinese Classic. So I have a lot of fun building it. Base figure from Sea International (brand) Bai Bing. If you noticed, my EMGY Firefighter water cannon arm is a part from this set
