Yeah, it was a good score alright! Btw, why is John Carpenter score a good thing? What else did he score? Is he the director of The Thing? emoticon

Yeah, that was the main note given to Chris Drake. Give it an 80's Carpenter/action flick sound to the score. Kaido, yes, John Carpenter directed the Thing and a bunch of other awesome movies. He also tends to score his own movies too. He has such a distinct simple [sign in to see URL] of those things, kinda like the Jaws theme, that you know its Carpenter when you hear it. emoticon

As Zwyer [sign in to see URL] scored most of his own movies. Escape From New York has a great soundtrack and theme. The theme was updated and sounded awesome for the sequel; Escape From L.A. in which Carpenter collaborated with Shirley Walker. Shirley, btw scored just about ALL of Batman: The Animated Series, I believe.

Re: Dark Knight Returns Part I-Animated Feature

So, I got the blu-ray and watched Part II a couple of days ago and man, this one is not for kids... although I've read the graphic novel years ago, seeing it animated was something else!

I think this will be one of the most controversial animation released in some time and will haunt me for some time to come.

There was just some truly unforgettable scenes, mainly the Joker scenes:

- Joker shooting people at the amusement park made me uncomfortable, especially in light of all the gun violence in the past few months.

- Joker's reaction when he gets tagged in the eye!

- The brutal final showdown between Bats and Joker, Joker didn't go down easy that's for sure.

- Superman taking sides... I didn't understand the implications of this back when I first read it, the Russians were bad, right? Now I totally get where Bats is coming from.

- I didn't think the transvestite Nazi with the swastika stickers would have made it into the adaptation, but she did!

I didn't think the voice acting was that strong, maybe it will be better with a repeat viewing. I would also have liked to see a bit more character development of Commish Yindel as she grows in her understanding that Gotham needs a Batman. Overall, this one is a must watch. Frank Miller was a total visionary.

Superman Unbound is next!
