Re: RAH 622 - The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword: 1/6th Link
Got mine today! Just opened him. He is fantastic.
- Material of his outfit is different than the proto photos, it's more of a felt material now, but it's fine. I think the hat wouldn't look as good with the original cotton weave material than what they're using now.
- He has different eyes to look left and right and straight. 4 sets!
- Right handed sword, but left handed holding the bow? The sword handle detaches easily so that you can stick the sword into his hand.
- The lump in his hat is posable!
- He comes with quite a few accessories, including his power bracelet, and there are some cool gimmicks, like how the shield attaches to the scabbard.
- There is a little hole in the bow and a little peg on the side of the arrow so that the arrow can peg onto the bow - that's a great touch! The bow string is a gentle elastic as well.
- The ankles are posable! Just pop them out a half centimetre and they can be totally flat on the ground and you can't see the joint.
- Figure body is nice and tight, almost too tight!
- There is a thin wire in his shirt collar.
- New style stand! It sort of reminds me of an SH Figuarts stand with a long adjustable arm and waist holder.
Really, I've no complaints. This is another knockout release by Medicom and I like it a lot!
What I'm sad about is I don't know what my next Medi figure will be! Maybe Dark Knight Bats? I was thinking also about getting the angry Jim Lee Bats and Supes, but then I worry about going down that rabbit hole and then my OCD will eventually have me picking up Joker, Harley and Catwoman...

Re: RAH 622 - The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword: 1/6th Link
Yay nice review Kaido!! Oh and also, may I suggest that the next Medicom figure(s) be OMG ALL OF ATTACK ON TITAN
I was writing something up myself so excuse me for doubling up on things you've already covered. Now unfortunately I don't have time or a good camera to shoot for good poses (not that I'm any good at it anyway) so I'll just jump in with some quick thoughts.
THE FIGURE:
The joints are nice and tight. Feels quite sturdy and heavy on hand surprisingly. It comes with enough hands to adequately pose and hold all the accessories included. No action pics because I didn't bother posing properly.
Boots are like Guts' or Hot Toys Ezio's where the top part is a tube that covers ankle joints underneath. But the ankles don't really have much range of motion...or maybe I'm just doing it wrong lol
Link's hat isn't removable and is articulated by a joint underneath...kinda like a tail. It goes sideways too but only slightly.
FACE SCULPTS & EYES:
The faces are wonderfully sculpted. Doesn't matter which direction the light comes from, Link's likeness is spot on.
Medicom went with a different approach this time. Unlike Guts which featured individual eye pegs (similar to Enterbay), Link has 4 sets of eyes each looking at specific direction. They can be swapped by removing the hair piece and face (similar to some old Phicen figures?).
These crappy pics can't show them but each set of eyes has a number etched in them so you know which side is up. They also have a tiny handle behind them which is quite handy because they fit snugly.
ACCESSORIES: Given Link's huge arsenal of gadgets, I'm sad to see so little made it to this figure. We've got the Master Sword & Hylian Shield (duh), Sacred Bow, and Tough Beetle. It would be nice if they included bombs or bottles or even some rupees.
Anyway, sword and shield is standard plastic stuff you'd find in a Medicom figure. The sword is silver around the edge with a blue tint across the blade surface. This pic shows how everything fits with the hand. The "handle" on the shield shown here is actually used for attachment with the sheath. It's removed entirely and fitted with the gripping handle if you want Link to hold it.
The belts and pouches are also plastic, which works just fine. The shield and sheath are actually sculpted so not every pattern you see there are printed on.
The Tough Beetle. Nothing much here except the bracelet has to go on Link's hand first so the Beetle would stay on.
The bow and arrow is finely crafted. Just one arrow but it has a peg that fits into the bow. Bow isn't flexible, but the string can be held in place by the ridge at the end of the arrow. Very nice touch.
THE OUTFIT: The shirt and the chain-mail underneath and the pants are very nicely done. Thin material and makes tiny wrinkles that looks appropriate on a 1/6 figure. The gauntlets are also just right.
Concerning the tunic...for those who are worried, it's not that big a deal. The only complain I have is that the material is rather thick compared to the rest of the fabrics used on this figure. This makes Link a little puffy because it's hard to make this kind of fabric sit on a 1/6 figure naturally. Lots of futzing is required to get it to look right. I personally think the sharp green is OK because Skyward Sword is a very colorful game. If this was the Twilight Princess Link, then yes this tunic would be a deal breaker. But for Skyward Sword, this tunic works just fine. Though with that said, I still prefer the prototype tunic but only because it's thinner and easier to futz.
OVERALL:
This is truly a great figure and I absolutely love it. The details that Medicom has put into this far outweighs the tunic that could have been. Besides, how many 1/6 Links are out there? It does stand out compared to the craptillion Batmans and Avengers that are going to hit stores the next few years.
Yes, I'm still traumatized by what they did with Naruto/Sasuke. So I'm glad to see he is to scale with other 1/6 figures because Link isn't supposed to be tall.
SOME QUIRKY THINGS:
Did anybody else have a set of Twilight Princess's 1/6 Master Sword and Hylian Shield by Master Replicas? They are made of mostly metal and were sold in Target for like $40 along with the soundtrack a few years back I think. Anyway here's some pics for comparison. They are quite different in size. Which one do you guys prefer? Any metallic looking ones are from Master Replicas...too lazy to type out which one is which lol
The metal shield is much heavier than what the figure can handle. I had to hold onto Link or else he will tilt at his waist or even fall over.
Thanks for reading~

Cheers, Xirality!
For the ankles just pull them out a half centimeter or so and you'll find the ankle articulation is much better.

Re: RAH 622 - The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword: 1/6th Link
Got mine!!!
Very happy with this purchase, overall great quality. Only gripes I have is the Master Sword is too heavy and the hand has trouble holding poses.
Other than that, this is a perfect toy!
@Kaido - agree with Xirality, get the Attack on Titan figures!!!

Re: RAH 622 - The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword: 1/6th Link
JuN, I will probably skip Attack on Titan, but I gotta say, Eren Yeager looks pretty awesome!
Well, if I was to get one of them, it would be hard to decide which one to get as well... Mikasa, Eren and Levi are all pretty sweet, but they're pretty much the same accessories.
I ordered Nendoroid Toon Link tonight.

Re: RAH 622 - The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword: 1/6th Link
lol, I did not know you were that big of a fan of AoT! But please no Facebook pics of you later wearing a naked bodysuit pretending to be fighting against them please!
Looking hard at other Medicoms recently... It has been hard resisting buying another 12 inch so soon.
The past few nights I have almost bought the Street Fighter gals, the EVAs, the other Gantz figures I don't have, the Jim Lee Batman and friends, the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man, Eren Yeager, Cyborg 009, Naruto, and Tom Cruise Ethan Hunt... man, reviews are dangerous!
Instead I preordered the latest DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom figure, the one that looks like Danny Trejo (of Machete fame).
