The Bond for people who don't like Bonds.

I've only seen it once but I enjoyed it far more than many recent Bond films. The next one may have a title that sounds like a Japanese RPG but if it's in a similar vein to Casino Royale it should be worth watching.

Yes, it should be good, but I feel Pacino is too big a star to be the villain, and it may hamper the film.

Casino Royale is a great film, I went to see it at the cinema with my mate when it first came out and we borrowed my brother in law's DVD of it recently.

The wife wanted to watch it but she doesn't usually like Bond films so I said to her if you don't like it tell me and I'll switch it off (thinking she'd tell me in the first 10 minutes or so) we were well over an hour into the film when she said "can we turn it off then?"

What a waste of an evening!!!! emoticon :roflrofl

Still of all the Bond films made so far it's my second favourite, my all time favourite being Goldeneye, not sure why, just really enjoyed it.

Goldeneye is my only 'old type' Bond I enjoy, mainly because it floods back memories of endlessly playing the N64 version. Beautiful.

Thought Casino Royal was OK (my wife loved it, think it might have something to do with the 'beachwear. scene), for me it's Dr No and Goldfinger, classics of their time.
I can't even watch the Moore ones, I feel embarresed for some reason, oh, I know why... they were awful!
They had great budgets but still had amateur production values, but that was brit movies in the 70's and 80's!

I don't mind any of the incarnations to be honest.

I can't see Daniel Craig sticking around in the role as long as Connery or Roger Moore to be honest though, long as they keep Judi Dench as M, she's great.

Picked up and watched Face Off on Blu Ray last night.

The film has a certain amount of nostalgia for me as it was one of my first purchases when DVD first came out and now it's one of my first Blu Ray discs.

It's still a great film although some of the fashions haven't aged well and it's born of the era when guys looked cool with their coats trailing in the wind behind them.

Really got screwed over on the special features though, there was only a trailer for the film and a "movie showcase" which for those not in the know plays a couple of scenes from the film which really show off the hi def picture and sound capablility.

Re: Nobody Seeing Any DVD's Lately

nice new thread! haven't posted in this section for a while.

saw eastern promises yesterday. awesome but the ending is very very anti-climactic. i prefer a history of violence. rented wrong turn 2 for my mother (she loved the first one and any other hillbilly death spree movie). it sucked. i'm sure you know that.

over the last few months i've been playing catch up on all these american shows i've wanted to watch - so i've seen 2 seasons of my name is earl, season 1 of heroes, seasons 1-3 of 24 and season 1 of prison break. all absolutely amazing. i had no idea what i was missing.

i think heroes is the most cleverly written, then possibly 24 (i didn't really enjoy season 3. season 2 was killer!). but the one i enjoyed most was prison break. again exceptional writing and the cast and characters are just incredible. went and tried to rent season 2 straight away but was out of luck. so i ordered the hot toys figs instead in a fit of joyous celebration.
